Questions to Ask When Choosing a Support Provider

Make a confident decision with questions about communication, services, costs and your preferences.
General information · 5 minute read

Will you listen to my preferences?

Ask how the provider learns about your goals, communication needs and preferred routines. You should have a clear opportunity to ask questions and be involved in decisions.

What can you offer in my area?

Confirm the services currently available, the relevant experience and any waiting periods. Ask for evidence of credentials or registration when they are relevant to your funding and needs.

How do the costs and agreements work?

Request a clear explanation of charges, cancellations, inclusions and how to end or change an agreement. Avoid signing until you understand the terms and have had time to consider them.

What happens if something is not right?

Ask how concerns, complaints and changes in support are handled. The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission provides independent guidance about participant rights and complaints.
This guide is general information. NDIS eligibility and funding are determined individually. Check ndis.gov.au for current requirements.
