NDIS Mental Health Support in Bayswater and Melbourne's East

Living with a mental health condition can affect your days in ways other people don’t always see: getting started in the morning, keeping on top of the house, staying connected with people or getting to appointments. Our NDIS mental health support offers practical, steady help with everyday life, at a pace that works for you, alongside the clinical care you already have.

We’re based in Bayswater and provide psychosocial disability support to participants across.

What is NDIS personal care?

NDIS mental health support, also called psychosocial disability support, is non-clinical help with daily life, routines, relationships and community participation for people whose mental health condition has a lasting impact on their day-to-day functioning. It focuses on your recovery and goals, not on treating your condition. Clinical care, such as from a psychiatrist, psychologist or mental health team, remains part of the health system and continues alongside your NDIS supports.

Daily living support for psychosocial disability

Every person’s recovery looks different. Depending on your goals and plan, your support may include:

Routines and daily living — help with getting started each day, meals, household tasks and personal care when things feel harder.

Appointments — support to plan, remember and attend health and other appointments.

Social connection — support to reconnect with friends, family, groups and activities you enjoy.

Community participation — getting out to the shops, library, gym, volunteering or courses.

Building skills and confidence — budgeting, cooking, managing your home, using transport.

Working towards goals — study, work or living more independently.

Working with your wider team — following any plans you’ve developed with your clinicians, recovery coach or support coordinator, with your consent.

Frequently asked questions

What is psychosocial disability?

Psychosocial disability is a disability that can arise from a mental health condition when it has a significant, lasting impact on daily life. Not everyone with a mental health condition has a psychosocial disability.

Does the NDIS fund mental health support?

The NDIS can fund non-clinical supports for people with psychosocial disability, such as help with daily living, community participation, life skills and recovery coaching. It doesn’t fund clinical treatment like therapy for the condition, medication or crisis care.

Does NDIS support replace my mental health team?

No. NDIS support works alongside your clinical care. Your psychiatrist, psychologist, GP or community mental health team continue to provide treatment, and we can work with them if you agree.

What is a psychosocial recovery coach?

You can tell us your preferences, such as gender, language or personality, and we’ll do our best to match you. If a worker isn’t the right fit, let us know and we’ll look at other options.

Do I need to be NDIA-managed, plan-managed or self-managed?

A psychosocial recovery coach is an NDIS-funded role that helps you plan your recovery, build skills and navigate the NDIS and mental health system. It’s different from a support worker, who provides day-to-day support.

Can my support change when I'm going through a harder time?

Yes, where your plan and our availability allow, we can adjust the type, timing or amount of support. We’ll talk with you about what helps during harder periods.

Are your support workers trained in mental health?

Mental Health First Aid, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practice.

Is Care Expert a crisis service?

No. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 000. For 24/7 crisis support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.

Do you provide mental health support in Bayswater?
